Territory Guide

How to claim land, expand it, build structures, and defend it

Territorial Basics

Claiming Land

Territory in Fractara is claimed through the placement of Rift Lanterns. A lantern marks the surrounding area as your claim. Claimed territory provides protection, resource bonuses, and places where you can build structures.

To place a lantern, you must be physically near the location according to your GPS position. A placed lantern claims a circular area around it. You can place more lanterns to extend your territory, but overlapping areas do not add extra bonuses.

The map uses different colors for allied and enemy territory. Borders between rival claims are common locations for territory battles.

Claim Markers

Rift Lantern Types

There are two types of Rift Lantern. Choose one based on how long you need the claim to last and how likely it is to be attacked.

TypeHPBurn DurationSpecial Properties
Standard Lantern10030 secondsBasic territory claim, no cooldown between attacks
Hardened Lantern50024 hours22-hour attack cooldown per attacker, enhanced durability

Standard lanterns work well for temporary claims and quick expansion. Hardened lanterns cost more but can withstand much more damage. Their 22-hour cooldown prevents one attacker from damaging the same lantern repeatedly in a short time.

When a lantern's health falls below 50%, it becomes vulnerable to burning. An attacker may spend 20 refined oil to ignite the lantern, beginning a countdown to its destruction. The owner may repair the lantern during this burn phase to save it.

Territorial Structures

Towers & Obelisks

You can build permanent structures on your territory to improve its value and defense. These structures require resources and enough crafting skill.

StructureFunctionRequirements
WatchtowerReveals nearby enemy movementsWood ×50, Stone ×30, Iron ×10
ObeliskExtends territory radius by 25%Stone ×100, Brick ×50, Gold ×500
FortressDefensive bonus to all friendly unitsStone ×200, Iron ×100, Brick ×100
Trade PostEnables local trading, reduced taxesWood ×100, Silk ×50, Gold ×1000

You can upgrade structures to improve their effects. A fully upgraded Obelisk extends territory by 50%, while an upgraded Fortress adds defense for nearby allies.

Kingdom Currency

Brick Economy

Bricks are a secondary currency for territory and kingdom development. You earn them through several activities and spend them on upgrades, structures, and special purchases.

ActivityBricks EarnedNotes
Holding Territory1 per hour per tilePassive income from claims
Defeating Enemies5-50 per killVaries by enemy tier
Completing Quests20-200 per questOne-time rewards
Kingdom DonationsVariableConvert gold to kingdom bricks

Players cannot trade bricks directly, but they can donate them to the kingdom treasury. Kingdom leaders can spend donated bricks on shared upgrades and wars.

Protection

Territory Defense

Enemy players can attack your lanterns and structures while you are away, so important claims need hardened lanterns and support from allies.

Hardened lanterns provide the strongest basic defense. Their 24-hour burn time gives you more time to respond to an attack. The 22-hour attack cooldown also limits how often one enemy can damage the lantern.

Kingdom allies receive notifications when your territory is attacked. Several players can repair and counterattack more effectively than one player, which makes kingdom support valuable for territory defense.

If a lantern is destroyed, buildings inside its radius become vulnerable. Attackers may then destroy those structures or, in some cases, claim them.
