The Fracture
Reality broke · the map remembered
Centuries ago a catastrophe shattered the walls between worlds. Other realities crashed into ours and now fight to occupy the same ground. Between the stable places lies the Rift: grey land where the ground forgets itself and Phase Skitterers feed on the edges of the real.
Only lanterns hold it back. Every lantern a Claimant lights pushes the Rift away and makes a small circle of the world solid again. Light enough of them and you have a home. Hold them together and you have a kingdom.

Your street, your park and your coastline are all part of the game. The planet is split into 15 biomes drawn from real ecoregion data, and each has its own creatures. The sun on this globe is where it really is right now.

This is Trafalgar Square in London, at the scale the game uses. Outside the light it's Rift. Tap the dark to plant a lantern. Each one claims 270 metres of real ground. Then keep the Skitterers off it.

Dungeons are shards of other worlds that crashed into ours. There are nine of them, 72 rooms in all, and each ends in a boss. Bring a party, or a lot of potions.

Raise a kingdom · then hold it
Found a kingdom by raising a Castle on your land. Grow it with towers and lanterns, earn perks from your members, and declare war on the kingdom next door. If your Castle falls, your kingdom is gone for good.

What kind of game is Fractara?
A location-based fantasy MMO. The real-world map is your overworld: explore, fight creatures, gather resources, craft equipment, and establish territory alongside other players. Pocket dimensions take your adventures beyond the map.
How do I start playing?
Open the game in your browser on your phone or computer, or get the app for iPhone or Android. Create an account and make your character: it is the same character everywhere you play.
Is it free to play?
Yes. You can create a character and start your adventure for free.
I played the beta. What carries over?
The launch world starts fresh, so beta characters, items, and coins stay behind. Sign up with the same email you used in the beta and your character's name is held for you until November 14.
